YORK EDUCATION FOUNDATION GRANTS FOR THE 2006 – 2007 SCHOOL YEAR

The York Education Foundation funded seven grants for the 2006-2007 school year, with four grants at Village Elementary School, one at York Middle School, one at Coastal Ridge Elementary School, and one from the Superintendent’s Office.

Nature’s Classroom, Pam Audet, VES:

Garden supplies provide students the material to design and create their own outdoor classroom at VES.

Everyday Math Game Kits, Julie Crafts, VES:

Game supplies and storage provide all Grade 1 students easy access to supplemental math activities.

Ready, Set, Go!, Elizabeth Crawford Reisz & Ruth Dealy, VES:

Books and bags provide entering Kindergarten students and parents literacy information and reading opportunities to support school transition issues.

Kindergarten Palm One Assessment, Submitted by: Teri Green& Ruth Dealy, VES:

Handheld organizers provide each kindergarten student with appropriate assessment by teachers collecting work samples electronically.

“Smart” Boards for Smart Kids, Submitted by: Michael Harris & Deb Bradburn, CRES:

Two portable SMART boards provide interactive, computer-based learning to Grade 4 students.

History in our Hands, Lisa Graziano, YMS:

Cabinets and artifacts provide students with a simulated museum experience.

Teacher training and classroom materials provide students multi-sensory phonemic awareness program to support reading skills.
